What should I do about mortar or debris on my roof from a neighbour’s build?

Take photos as soon as you notice it and speak to the builder or your neighbour, since the cost is often covered by them. Then have the roof and gutters professionally cleaned. Dried mortar, soil and building dust can be removed without damaging tiles or Colorbond if they’re done carefully.
Steps to take
- Photograph it: roof, gutters and any marks on walls or windows.
- Talk to the builder or neighbour: many will cover the cleaning cost for affected areas.
- Get a quote for the affected areas only if the cost is being split.
- Clean after the noisy work is finished so it doesn’t need doing twice.
What can be removed
Soil, dust, cement slurry and small mortar splashes can usually be cleaned off. Gutters full of building debris should be cleared to avoid overflow.
Request a quote and mention it’s construction debris.
