For most Perth roofs, soft washing is the better choice. It uses low pressure and a cleaning solution to kill moss, lichen and mould without cracking tiles, stripping coatings or forcing water under the roof. Pressure cleaning still has a place on hard surfaces like paving and on some capping, but it is a risk on older tiles.

Yes. Colorbond and other metal roofs can be cleaned, and soft washing is the right way to do it. Low pressure and a suitable cleaning solution remove mould, lichen, dust and oxidisation without scratching or stripping the painted finish, which high-pressure blasting can do.

Yes, it's a smart move. Once panels are installed, the tiles underneath are very hard to reach for 20 years or more. Cleaning and treating the roof beforehand removes moss and lichen and gives your installer a clean, safe surface to work on. It's also a good chance to spot cracked tiles before they're covered.
