How often should I clean my roof in Perth?
Answered by Luke at Westside Roof Cleaning & Soft Wash, with more than 12 years on Perth roofs.
Most Perth roofs benefit from a professional clean every 2 to 3 years. Homes under big trees, in shady spots or near the coast may need it more often, and gutters on leafy blocks may need clearing two or three times a year. A prevention treatment stretches the time between cleans.
Signs it’s time
- Green, black or orange patches on the tiles.
- Black streaks along Colorbond ridges.
- Gutters overflowing in rain.
- Leaves or debris building up in valleys.
- You’re about to sell, install solar, or recoat the roof.
What changes the timing
Trees overhead, especially gums and casuarinas, drop leaves and shade the roof. Coastal suburbs get salt and moisture. South-facing roof faces stay damp longer in winter.
